At Smith College we play British Racketball, which is like American Racquetball, except it is played with a low-bounce ball, on a squash court, with squash-like rules.
It is the easiest of the racquet sports to learn, and can even be a great workout just hitting by yourself. There are racquets and balls at the equipment booth and a Recreational Play night on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7-8:30 pm. at the Smith squash courts. You can find out more about British Racketball at Smith Coach Tim Bacon’s British Racketball Blog (you can also sign up for Tim’s Introduction to Racket Sports course).
Here is a link to the current rules. The U.S. game is a different animal, in case you end up in a place with only “American” Racquetball played on a 20 X 40 foot court, where the ceiling is in play! (Tim is a certified Racquetball Coach with Racquetball Canada, and did a lot of mental training consultation with the Canadian National Team in the 80′s and 90′s.
