So the Smith College Squash Team finished the season on a high note – five alums from NYC (and Houng Nguyen doing her Ph.D. in Economics at Brandeis) dropped by to say “hi” – and even to arm wrestle some of the current team. Nice to see all the recent grads are either applying to or attending grad or law school – Go Smith Alums!
The team played great – first taking out Boston College (a club team) in a tough match, before losing another tough one to another club team – Georgetown – who went on to win the Epps Division. So Smith finished third but was probably would have been the runner-up if Georgetown had been accurately seeded in the draw (tough to do with club teams as they usually do not play that many matches).
Another highlight of the year (at least for Coach Tim Bacon) was a return to a more simple cheer: “Smith” – which we see in the introductions to the team’s mach with Boston College:
